The ice is doing it's best to take hold along the river's edge.

Another beautiful walking day, this time with fresh snow, along the Ottawa River. This would have been a good perch for catching some rays, except that with the higher winter river level, it's several feet offshore.

A little graffiti along the Ottawa River walkway to brighten up a crisp, sunny, perfect-for-a-walk day.

And the other side of the underpass...very appropriate given the proximity to the river.

SherpaBob and Red Greenfield (ever wonder who tapes the trees along the trail?) take a Wine, Cheese and Sausage break somewhere below the summit of Mount Walpole.

A view looking eastward from the top of Mount Walpole.
That's Four Mile Bay way down there through the trees.

You just never know what you'll discover on a Margarita Bike Tour. This road graffiti is in Hull, PQ, between a set of RR tracks about 4km from the nearest margarita.

The Aylmer Marina (actually the patio bar) was a colourful reward
for another hot bike ride west along the Ottawa River.
Still looking for a good margarita.

Monday, August 14, 2006

We spent the weekend in Cobalt Ontario for the annual Fred Eaglesmith Northern Ontario Picnic. Incredible music, great friends, camping and loons. See Rob's site for more pictures.

Check out the flagpoles on this garage in Mattawa this morning. The town took the brunt of the storms that passed through the North Bay area last night, with many giant pines down along the highway, some on top of century old brick houses. The power was out at Rob's this morning when I left. The storm just missed us, with many trees down in the area. The prediction is two or three days before they get power. Send Rob and Marsha cold beer!

How many faces, fingers and toes can you find in this natural
wonder, found heading upriver from Ottawa on the biketrails
on the Quebec side.

Went into my archives to find this one. Who recognizes this?

(I forgot to put the memory stick back in my camera
so my last ride produced tons of imaginary pictures)

Finally, I've gotten out on my bike and I'm seeing parts of the Ottawa region that I never knew existed in my twenty plus years living here.
